As the former Senior Wine Specialist, Vice President of Christie’s North America, Mr. Torrence occupied Head of Sales for the Beverly Hills & San Francisco Offices since 2001. During his stewardship, Mr. Torrence achieved multiple world records in Los Angeles, New York and Hong Kong. Mr. Torrence helped to bring many world class, multi million dollar, single owner collections to auction including: The Extraordinary Private Cellar of Doris Duke, The Quintessential Modern Cellar, the original series of Los Angeles Evening Sales and Grand Crus Part II: The Collection of Christen Sveaas. During his long tenure at Christie’s, he has held several Master Classes with Anthony Hanson M.W., which have included such prominent wine producers as Jean-Méo (Méo-Camuzet), Angelo Gaja (Gaja), Fréderic Engerer (Château Latour), Hospices de Beaune and Château La Mission Haut-Brion. Mr. Torrence has traveled the globe inspecting the rarest and finest wine cellars from Asia to London to New York with a long history of excellent client experiences. In late 2009, Mr. Torrence enjoyed a brief sojourn as Vice President of Business Development with Benchmark Wine Group to learn more about on-line selling and marketing. In early 2016 Mr. Torrence negotiated the landmark partnership between two of the industry’s most powerful wine luxury brands, Christie’s and Wally’s Wine & Spirits (owned by the Marciano Family of Guess? Jeans fame). This structure of partnership was the first of its kind among international auction houses. Among his long list of milestones, Mr. Torrence is most proud of his four year span teaching a sophisticated wine course at UCLA.
