Surprisingly the cork came out in 1 piece. Heavy sediment in the neck of the bottle. Had the bottle upright for about 24 hours but still pours a bit cloudy. Slight browning around the rim of the glass but less than expected for a 27 year old wine. At first I noticed an earthy hint of Brettanomyces along with an herbal component. The house smells of lamb and rosemary which may be affecting my aroma perception of this wine but I smell a bit of rosemary in the glass.
Now the wine has been open for about an hour. There is subtle red fruit in the nose and most of the Brett has blown off. Still has an earthy herbal character. The flavor has red fruit flavors, especially dark cherry along with red raspberry. Good acidity allows the fruit flavor to come through along with the herbal component and nice rounded silky tannins. This leads to a very long pleasant finish. This bottle has been open for about 2 hours now and the fruit continues to open up. I like well aged CDP's and this bottle has all of the organoleptic qualities I enjoy with wines from this region. Overall this is a very enjoyable well aged CDP. 10/3/2022

The 1995 Cuvée Réservée exhibits an opaque black/purple color, and extraordinary rich, intense aromas of smoke, black raspberries, kirsch, and spice. Exceptionally full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, and a thick, rich, expansive mid-palate, this superbly concentrated wine appears to be a worthy rival to this estate's phenomenal 1989 and 1990. Interestingly, the average alcohol level achieved by Domaine du Pegau in 1995 was 14.5-15.5%. This is a blockbuster Châteauneuf du Pape. (RP) (1/1997)
