In this size this has entered its drinking window. Its the colour of motor oil, its silky and viscous, with lots of dried fruit and an endless finish. Very similar to old Auz fortified, except of course for the fact that the alcohol of 4.5%. Stunning. (01/2023)

This Tokaji Essencia was probably the most unique wine that I have had yet to date. When poured, the wine comes out viscous and syrupy. With such intense concentration, the nose is sharply pronounced with loads of dried apricot, raw honey, and prunes. One small sip and the palate is immediately overtaken by fig leather, apricot preserves, and pâte de fruit. Surprisingly, the wine did not taste as sweet as it was completely balanced by the screeching acidity that follows. My mouth salivated for a minimum of 15 seconds after a sip, with the finish lasting an additional half minute. This was one of the best dessert wines that I have tried in terms of concentrated fruit flavor. And with the amount of sugar, this wine can last for centuries effortlessly, although it doesn't need additional age. I honestly preferred this over most of Sauternes that I have tried. 97 today, but could definitely go further. (11/2022)
