This is a magical Bâtard, from 90 year old vines that handled the warmth of the vintage. A bouquet of kalaeidescopic complexity reveals aromas of tangerine oil, pear, honeysuckle, candied citrus and an intriguing top-note of petrol. This is a wine of incredible intensity, concentration and velouté texture, which somehow remains unerringly weightless and precise. One of the white Burgundies of the vintage. A deft touch of wood allows the ever-so-slightly exotic and clearly ripe floral, pear, white peach and citrus aromas to shine. The exceptionally rich, full-bodied and generous broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent power along with a caressing yet entirely serious mouth feel, all wrapped in a hugely long and palate coating finish. This is a very big yet well-balanced effort that displays no heaviness. Patience required. (6/2017)
