Frederic Esmonin, Mazy-Chambertin 2009
33 ha of 40+ year old vines. A more complex and slightly riper if less elegant nose features earthy red pinot, plum and distinct sauvage notes that also characterize the rich, generous and forward medium-bodied flavors that possess an unusually fine, even silky, mouth feel. The admirably lingering finish is supported and shaped by fine but firm tannins and excellent length. This is not a bruiser but it is really quite stylish. *Sweet Spot* (1/2011)

Pure cherry and strawberry aromas and flavors are set against a bevy of brawny tannins in this well-toned red, which is intense and shows excellent length, if a bit dry on the finish. (BS) (6/2012)
