Absolutely compelling, and unquestionably one of the finest fortified wines I have ever tasted, the 2005 Fortification boasts a black/purple color as well as a glorious, profound bouquet of scorched earth, charcoal embers, blackberries, blueberries and smoked meats. Full-bodied, unctuously textured, thick and juicy with incredible equilibrium and richness, this young, massive, port-like wine reveals residual sweetness that is neither over-the-top nor cloying.
