The Domaine de la Grange des Pères is a wine estate in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, located in Aniane. The estate was established in the late 1980s by Laurent Vaillé, who, after completing internships with Eloi Dürrbach at Trévallon, then with Gérard Chave and Jean-François Coche Dury, took over the family estate, supplemented by a few plots of garrigue in the Arboussas massif. The vineyard covers 13 hectares, composed of Syrah (35%) and Mourvèdre (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon, Counoise, and Petit Verdot. The estate's exceptional white wine is made from Roussanne (80%), Marsanne (15%), and Gros Manseng. The 1992 vintage was the first produced by Laurent Vaillé

First pour was about 20 minutes after opening. Big nose of leather and animal notes, bretty and medicinal, and definitely savory. After more than an hour in glass, the wine has now finally opened up and showed more fruit on top of the original profile. Second pour more than 1½ hours after opening, and this was even more open and fragrant. Drinking very nicely. 8/23/2025

Peak drinking last night. Deep cherry fruit with mature leaf and tobacco notes. Earthy and rich. Ripe but not overdone. I think the age helps mitigate that. Tannins still lightly present but fine. A stunning wine. 12/7/2024

Served about 1½ hours after opening. Very nice and elegant, with plenty of leather along with a little medicinal and savory minerals on the nose. Just so smooth and drinking beautifully. 2/26/2024
