Peter Michael, Santa Lucia Highlands, Le Moulin Rouge, Pinot Noir 2009 (1.5L)
Description
Fruit Source: Pisoni Vineyard
94 points Int'l Wine Cellar
Deep ruby-red. Intense aromas of red berry preserves and cherry-cola, with complicating notes of dried rose, five-spice powder and white pepper. Ripe red berry flavors boast liqueur-like depth and intensity but there's an almost weightless quality to this wine that I find really intriguing, especially in light of its 16%(!) alcohol. Shows peppery spice and floral notes on the long, sappy, gently sweet finish. (ST)(6/2011)
94 points Wine Spectator
Firm, rich, intense and concentrated, this fragrant, well-structured red shows loamy earth, dried berry, mineral and cedar notes. Slow to unfold, this gains depth and dimension while retaining a tight framework. (JL) (7/2011)
