LOUIS JADOT, LE CHAMBERTIN 1988
1.5cm - 2.0cm; DOMAINE LOUIS JADOT bottling
A classic example of pre-1990s era Burgundy wine making. The 1988, 1987, 1985 loom large in defining the style book of the post 1970s era.
Domaine Louis Jadot is one of the most recognizable luxury and broad market labels on the market. They are both a negociant, a purchaser of grapes, and a grower in several prestigious vineyards. The Domaine own and operate 585 acres of vineyards across Burgundy and remain one of the regions flagship producers to the world. Bottles produced from these vineyards are given the label designation Domaine Louis Jadot to distinguish them from their other bottles. This is particularly important in instances where Jadot is know to produce two bottlings of a specific vineyard. Consumer's consider the "Domaine" designation as a higher marque of quality control.
Le Chambertin is the Domaine's flagship label alongside holdings in Clos de Beze and Ruchottes.
The wine has a long reputation for aging and is now rightly expressing notes that are fully mature, tonaly "earthy" and savory. It is a classic example of a properly cellar aged burgundy as evidenced by its known provenance to us as merchants and the condition of the bottles that remain from an original dozen.
This collection has been under ChapFour management since 2004-2005 and we have helped the owner sell upwards of $3.5M of his collection over this time. Much of it the rarest and most sought after Burgundy, Barolo and California Classics ever assembled. Feel free to inquire for more details.
