Situated in the picturesque Amador County of northern California, Renwood Winery is surrounded by the rolling hills and rushing streams of California's gold country. Renwood was established in 1993 and is one of the most respected wine producers in the Sierra Foothills, specializing in Zinfandel. Renwood wines have enjoyed consistently high ratings by some of the most respected wine critics in the world reflecting the skill of our winemakers and our devotion to the craft of winemaking.

Renwood estate vineyard is located on the hills behind the winery and is predominantly planted with the Grandpère clone of Zinfandel in both head trained and trellised vines. The slope of the vineyard has shallow soils with good drainage which is optimal for Zinfandel. They also grow Petite Sirah, Mourvedrè, Barbera and Alicante, which can be found in some of our Grandpère Zinfandel blends. We analyze each block of land and plant and grow the varietal best suited to the conditions of that block. Within a single acre we sometimes locate several varietals to optimize growing conditions and foster the flavors and tastes that define our wines. The estate-grown grapes are supplemented by fruit sourced from premier Amador County vineyards. The Old Vine Zinfandel tradition continues to thrive at Renwood with select vineyard sites that feature old vine, dry farmed, head-pruned Zinfandel.
