Rob comes to London (67 Pall Mall): Another stunning Raveneau MdT (after the 2007 a few weeks ago). Very buttery on the nose, with some herbs. The glory of this wine was on the palate, though, which was saline, bitter and juicy, crisp with the flavour of lime cordial then creamier like tom yum soup, and also marked by notes of sassafrass and quinine. All these notes were beautifully integrated, the wine being intense yet dreamy, and remarkably weightless despite being so sensual. Quite wonderful. 7/4/2023

A ripe and exceptionally fresh nose of orchard fruit, citrus and a lovely stony character that displays a soft touch of reduction highlights the big, powerful and intense flavors that possess excellent depth of material and flat out terrific complexity on the gorgeously long finish. Even with 7 years of bottle age, this remains a racehorse of a wine with firm acidity and terrific focus and as I noted in my orginal review, it can compete with the grands crus in 2004 as it definitely has that 'wow' factor. One other aspect is worth noting is that thanks to the excellent mid-palate fat, this can be enjoyed now even in magnum format though it would be a shame to lose all of the upside potential that the '04 MdT has in such abundance.(11/2011)
