While I'm impressed with the gorgeous aromatics and lovely complexity, the wine is a touch slender for classic Bonnes Mares. There is excellent persistent and fine balance but it could use a bit more stuffing. A wine of elegance rather than power though there is enough structure to warrant a decade of cellar time. Barrel Sample: 88-91 90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The dark-colored 1999 Bonnes Mares has creamed mocha and black cherry aromas. Medium-bodied and foursquare, this is a broad-shouldered, masculine wine with juicy black fruit flavors. Firm tannins make up this offering's sturdy finish.
