Carballal, Cepas Viejas, Albarino 2020
Description
This is a fantastic alternative to Sauvignon Blanc for those looking for crips, zesty and highly aromatic white wine. We highly recommend this for both casual enjoyment and for the ideal pairing with lighter fare. - Scott, C4
The primary grape of the Rías Baixas (Lower Inlets) section of the Galicia region of northwestern Spain, Albariño is considered by many to be Spain's premier white wine. It also plays an important role in northern Portugal (where it is known as Alvarinho) as a component of Vinho Verde. The thick-skinned grapes thrive in the cool, windy climates of Galicia and northern Portugal, yielding intensely aromatic wines with typical aromas of almonds, white flowers, and stone fruits; the best examples also boast a solid mineral core. Wines made from this grape are particularly good matches for the local seafood dishes, given their bracing acidity and tart, fruity character. Albariño is meant to be consumed young, as its aromatics fade rather quickly after bottling.
