Red garnet, medium body. Ripe red fruits, tobacco, smoked aromas and licorice as finish. Tannins are tender and touch your palate caressing it. Great bandol 10/22/2024

Slow ox 8 hours ahead of drinking and decanted just before drinking. At opening, was not too closed but benefited from some air; would treat future bottles in same manner. Nice bouquet of mature fruit (stewed plums) and herbs from the get go. Nice garnet with bricking. Balanced herb forward taste with some light fruit, hint of licorice with a bit of structure and fully integrated tannins. Mid to light mouthfeel. Some light integrated and agreeable sediment (not what was left in bottle at decanting), but not cloudy. Friend had difficulty guessing wine; does not correspond to typical, younger bandols--much more subtle and complex, although garrigue still shines through. May have a been a bit better a few years earlier with a bit more power, but this is still a fantastic wine. Much more balanced and mature vs 2007 that I had a fews back (and which I also still have more of in my cellar). Paired perfectly with venison. Time to drink remaining bottles. Bandol continues to have stellar QPR; aged version of a top wine from this region is a revelation. 1/17/2024
