Domaine de la Vougeraie, Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Evocelles 2005
Situated between Cote de Nuit & Cote de Beaune, the Domaine’s history goes back to 1966 with Les Evocelles - the first vineyard plot they acquired. Its name derives from “Les Brosselles”, which translates as a patch of scrubland. The vines are ideally located on a steep east-south-east slope, Pinot-friendly calcareous soil. The Domaine has been certified organic since 2001. All of the estate’s wines are aged in oak, using just 20% new wood each year.
Respect for nature has always prevailed at the Domaine de la Vougeraie, which also uses biodynamic practices. Expect this wine to still have power and freshness of red fruits alongside the developing earthy, savoury notes.

Gorgeous burgundy at absolute prime. Crushed raspberries and some light terroir flavors of spice, game and earth. Only knock is a slightly hollow mid-palate but the fruit was quite stunning. 8/26/2019
