Finca Allende, Rioja, Single Vineyard Estate, Pago del Calvario 2001
Description
94 points Wine Enthusiast
Yet another portly, gorgeous wine from Allende, one that well serves the single-vineyard train of thought. Entirely international in style, with pure plum, blackberry and vanilla aromas and flavors. Super concentrated and unctuous, with soft tannins and an all-out finish. And the acidity is as integrated and proper as possible. (6/2005)

Good deep ruby. Inky aromas of cassis and bitter chocolate, with a suggestion of baked fruits. Thick, dense and hugely concentrated, with a saline quality. As creamy, unctuous and superripe as this is, it's also lively and sharply delineated. A massive, seamless Rioja that finishes with huge, ripe, touthcoating tannins. Definitely not your father's Rioja. (from a single vineyard planted in 1945) (10/2004)
