Forey Pere et Fils, Vosne Romanee 2017
Description
Received in Original Carton
Beloved by Burgundy purists, this small property is a treasure trove of classically styled, “old school” Burgundies from Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Morey-Saint-Denis. This village-level Vosne is a profoundly expressive—yet tiny production—Pinot Noir from vines averaging 40 years of age. Proprietor Régis Forey ages this wine in a mix of used French oak barriques and larger demi-muids; his wines are known to be powerfully structured and deeply mineral-driven in their youth—built to age well for decades. If opening a bottle of this 2017 today, be sure to decant it at least one hour before serving, to allow its tannins to soften and its dark cherry fruit to emerge.
Importer Notes
Forey farms 14 separate parcels that cover together a bit more than one hectare to create the village Vosne-Romanée. Most of the vineyards are on the northern side of Vosne bordering Vougeot. The oldest parcel was planted in 1942 and the major portion of this wine is from vines in excess of 40 years of age. Forey ages this wine in a mix of small barrel and demi-muid.
