J. Rochioli, Russian River Valley, Three Corner Vineyard, Pinot Noir 1996

Rochioli's Pinot Noirs are at the top of the qualitative pyramid for this varietal in California, competing favorably with the Pinot Noirs made by Marcassin, Martinelli, and Kistler. The dense, deep ruby/purple-colored 1996 Pinot Noir Three Corner Vineyard (125 cases) reveals a sweet black raspberry-scented nose with high quality pain grille notes, and intriguing Asian spice scents. Sweet and ripe on the attack (from fruit maturity, not sugar), this full-bodied, dense, lushly-textured Pinot Noir is an infant in terms of development, but it promises to drink well young, and last for 7-8 years.
