M. Ant. de la Riva, Sherry, Amontillado Extra, Solera 1819
Description
Base of neck; dusty bottles and labels, damp stained labels, one signs of very old seepage
Bodegas de la Riva was founded in Jerez in the latter part of the 19th Century by Manuel Antonio de la Riva. He purchased an existing bodega and 53 hectares of vineyards in the Pago Macharnudo district, which sits at high elevation with very pure limestone soils and, at the time, was one of the oldest vineyard areas in the area. Though under different ownership today, the de la Riva name is still held in very high esteem and old bottles are particularly hard to come by.
