A triumph of balance and finesse, this 1991 is stylistically closer to Pauillac than Oakville! Very deep red in colour, it's showing only slight maturity. The nose is smoky and cedary, distinctly Bordelais in style, with refined blackberry fruit aromatics. The palate is rich and opulent, showing no extraction or excessive heft, while the texture is exquisite and the wine is still fresh. It has good length with some piquant acidity on the finish as well as sweetness of fruit. (SB)(2/2019)

This is an amazing wine drinking at its peak. Still so much primary fruit without any excess, just pure, fresh forest berries. Minerality, herbs, crushed rocks, and an intense wonderful and balancing tobacco and black truffles block. The tannins have melted but there is enough tension and freshness. Highly elegant, the wine is harmonious from start to finish. 11/3/2023
