I know '85 was a good vintage but I really didn't know what to expect. The wine was 12.5 % alcohol. I believe it is Canaiolo that accompanies the Sangiovese in this wine but Antinori has since changed the formula.

I was very happy when I opened the bottle and the cork was in perfect condition. The initial flavors were of caramel but by the end of the evening the fruit showed itself. It was almost too good to be true. Very little sediment and the wine got better as the nite went on. 12/2007
