Camile Giroud, Nuits Saint-Georges, Les Vaucrains 2003
92 CellarTracker
This could easily be identified as an ‘03 by its ripeness and concentration. Nonetheless I have found so many of these to be enchanting based on the spectacular purity of their fruit qualities, both red and black. PETERNELSON’s note perfectly describes my experience with it on Day 1. Day 2 (merely stoppered up, no Argon or chilling) revealed a more structured wine, as if it was a slightly older vintage that was still showing ample tannin and acidity. Excellent but quite different character from previous day. While others love to trash the vintage, I love drinking them now for that laser purity of fruit while having confidence that there is (on many, not all) plenty of underlying structure to see them through many years of aging. Thrilled to be able to pick up 4 more of these for sub $75 just this week. Hard to find village wines for that nowadays. 6/28/2020
