This estate is located in the northern portion of the AOC, with most plots consisting of sandy, pebble strewn soils, and the wines are made by Daniel Chaussy. The 2001 Mas de Boislauzon Cuvée du Quet, a blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre (60+ year-old-vines) that’s aged in a combination of tank and small barrel, is an outstanding, noteworthy effort that displays an almost cool climate bouquet of black olive and tapenade like notes intermixed with deep black fruits, tobacco, and meaty nuances on the nose. The palate shines as well and is medium+ bodied with good ripeness, solid concentration and structure, and a mineral-laced, long finish. Absolutely delicious, with a good mix of hedonism and intellectual complexity, this should continue to evolve over the next 2-4 years, drinking well through 2020. (JD) 03/2011

Deep ruby in color with slight bricking at the edges, this wine showed explosive aromas of licorice, game, resin, white pepper and blackberry preserve. The mouth feel was rich with added elements of pine, herbs and minerals. The finish and elegant with hints of saddle leather, iron and red raspberry.

Purchased recently for $59US, this wine is in a GREAT place right now and easily has 5+ years to go. Drink now - 2020+. The aromatics literally lept out of the glass. Shared with friends at Arde Oesteria in Wayne, PA. 12/13/2014
