Consumed over more than a year. (I aged more than it did in that time.) This is an absolutely lovely bual though I have had more complex and concentrated. Rich varnish, balsamic notes all in perfect harmony making it hard to pick out anything specifically. 1/26/2020
Vinous
Dark brown in hue, this has a very intense, perhaps diffuse nose of singed leather, espresso and sufficient VA to knock your socks off. But you still fall for its charms. The palate has a sweet brown sugar and dried-orange-peel-tinged entry, racy acidity and a silky texture, with some bitter chocolate, smoke and lemon thyme toward the slightly diffuse and drying finish. This is a delicious old Boal, if now a little rickety. Tasted at the Marqués de Riscal dinner at Christie’s. (NM) 10/2019
