Impressive richness and clarity of red and dark berries. Lightly spiced-pastry aromas, too. The palate has a very crisp, polished and groomed tannin texture, as well as super fresh flavors that carry long. Great wine. Try from 2022.

With structured tannins and red berry notes, this is already showing an elegant structure. It is the fruit that sings here, gently supported by the fine, dusty tannins.

Situated just South of the Margaux appellation (which was very successful in this vintage), not far from Bordeaux-City, this Cru Classé is widely available thanks to its generous production (more than 200kbottles/year). The quality is mostly at least good and the prices stay very reasonable (about 30€ for this one). With its 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot this wine has a deep, young black-red color with aromas of cherry-liqueur, cassis, cedar, tobacco and a touch of new oak, with on the palate different red and black fruits, abundant very ripe tannins, a perfect acidity and a 30sec.finish. This is one of the best vintages of this Château I drank so far, on par with the excellent 1989 and 2010. For me this is already enjoyable but it can certainly gain more complexity (and a few points in the score) over the next 10 years. 2/1/2026
