More substantial, with a meaty, muscular feel, the 2011 Cote Rotie La Landonne exhibits lots of olive tapenade, underbrush, crushed rock and blackberry-styled fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, nicely concentrated (especially for a 2011) and yet voluptuously textured, with moderate, fine tannin, it will round into form relatively early, yet evolve gracefully for years. Dark ruby red with mix of pink and orange rim. Black fruits, blackcurrant, blueberry, leather, roast duck, hoisin sauce, olive, leather, spices, potting soil and floral. Full-bodied, medium-high acidity, medium-high tannin, medium tannin, medium-high structure and long finish. Bold, complex and layered. Wine had evolved and improved since I tasted 9 months ago in May 2023. It had more tertiary notes than last time, and finally entering the prime drinking window. It should continue to improve over the next few years. 2/20/2024

Cote Rotie and Condrieu at Must & Lees (Must & Lees, N1): More approachable than I remember the ‘07 being, which is my only other experience of this wine. Decades left in it; still very tangible and stringy tannins. Nose is brilliant; it’s a soft and oaked meatiness, not the take-no-prisoners-eat-only-tbone-steak meatiness that can be the case. At the moment i think the nose is ahead of the palate though; 93++ 9/28/2023
