This single-vineyard Barbaresco Riserva shows lovely floral and fruit scents of violet, iris, ripe berry and pressed powder. The palate is delicious, with black cherry, plum and spice uplifted by freshness and energizing mineral notes. It has ample depth and balance, and while it's drinking well now, it will also age for years. *Cellar Selection* (KO) 09/2013

'08 Produttori Riservas at M&L Islington (Must & Lees, Liverpool Road): Open 4 hrs; no decant. Phroah – really visceral nose: aggressively raspberry! And something herbaceous there too. Slightly wild. Tannins are pretty stringy still at this stage. This is full on – not ethereal by any means! Real point of difference in this lineup, with its best still yet to come. 93++ 1/29/2025

2008 PdB Riservas (Must & Lees): Blind. Purple/blue fruit rather than the cherry-strawberry of the earlier wines; it reminded me of Pinot Noir, with its rather plush, lovely perfume. Fairly big on the palate, perhaps too much so. Lacked the structure and definition of tonight's better wines, but still very enjoyable. 1/29/2025
