The 2009 Barbaresco Riserva Montefico is one of the more striking wines in the range. Deeply expressive with regard to place, the Montefico is laced with dark cherry, plum, menthol, licorice, spice notes, all supported by the firm, incisive tannins and vibrant salinity that are the hallmark of this great site. There is little doubt the Montefico is one of the highlights in this range of 2009 Riservas from the Produttori. This is a terrific showing. (AG) (10/2013)

From the celebrated Montefico vineyard site, this opens with a floral fragrance of rose petal, blue flower and perfumed red berry. The delicious palate delivers layers of ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and white pepper alongside firm tannins. *Cellar Selection* (KO) (12/2014)

Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark earth, tar, dark ed cherries, dark plums, spices. Wonderful mushroom and lovely truffle on day 2. Developing. On the palate, dry, just about high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), smooth high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of salty salinity, black olives, dark red cherries, dark plums, sweet spices. Lovely savoury mushroom earth on day 2. Long finish. Very good quality. Needs more time in bottle to evolve. Loved it with more air on day 2. 3/16/2024
