Littorai, Sonoma Coast, Summa Vineyard, Pinot Noir 2008

Littorai Wines is a small, family owned and operated winery producing world class vineyard designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the true north coast of California: the coastal mountains of Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Littorai Wines was founded in 1993 by Heidi and Ted Lemon. In July 2008, we completed construction of our winery located between Sebastopol and Freestone in western Sonoma County.

Medium red. Primary, estery aromas of huckleberry, lavender and brown spices, plus an intriguing suggestion of game. Broad, sweet and fat with fruit; chewy, savory and remarkably rich for a pinot with a moderate 13.5% alcohol. Finishes with a note of woodsmoke. Not at all the most tannic pinot of the set; in fact, this one relies more on its acids than its tannins for structure. A lot of wine here. (ST) (5/2010)
