Decanted 3 hrs. Re reading my note from 2016 and my own recollection was of a quality Volnay that was showing a decent amount of upfront fruit and perhaps one for mid term aging. 8 years later this was really signing last night and I was very impressed. The dark berries have receded back into a more secondary role, with an enticing savory quality taking center stage. The David Schildnecht 'roasted meat pan drippings' describes this attribute perfectly. I also noted low acidity back the, hmmm, nothing deficient in that dept as this was fresh, balanced, and many good years ahead based on what I tasted last night. Excellent. 11/10/2024

A beautiful array of floral nuances that include rose petal, lavender and violet adds elegance to the restrained, airy and cool red currant aromas. The understated and equally restrained medium-bodied flavors culminate in an exceptionally pure and tension-filled finish that is pure silk. This lacy and strikingly beautiful effort is a classic Volnay as the palate impression is gossamer fine yet this will need plenty of cellar time. *Don't Miss! Outstanding* 04/2012
