The Raveneau 2006 Chablis Vaillons combines the best of both worlds: the irresistibly generous cherry and peach fruitiness of the Montmains with the thought-provoking mineral side of the Montmains. The 2006 Raveneau Vaillons is simply stunning. The bouquet is deep, heartbreakingly pure and classically reserved, as it offers up notes of beeswax, apple, grapefruit, chalky soil tones and spring flowers. On the palate the wine is medium-full and rock solid at the core, with a gloss of generosity on the attack belied by the almost painfully mineral and racy backend. The Vaillons has laser-like focus, snappy acidity and stunning grip and soil transparency on the finish. A stunning wine. (11/2007)

The nose reflects only modest aromatic development on the notably ripe, spicy and intensely floral nose that introduces strikingly intense and sappy flavors that are supple and textured yet the finish tightens up very quickly and possess a lovely sense of underlying tension on the palate staining finish. This is impressively long and possesses good if not truly class Chablis character. To my taste this is nearing the front edge of its peak drinkability though it will be capable of holding here for years to come. (6/2011)
