Azelia, Barolo, San Rocco 2001
Into neck
95 CellarTracker
Big firm tannin and a spicy finish with balsamic reduction; this really opened up after 2 hours becoming exceptionally savory. Currently at peak maturity, although this wine may last another 5 – 6 years. Baked plums, road tar, black pepper & licorice. Brick red and cloudy (beginning to brown) and maybe a bit heavy on the French oak, which is now converting to cedar, which I appreciate, but it’s starting to overpower everything else. Pair with black olives / garlic / anchovies; pasta Puttanesca anyone? 3/19/2021

Very concentrated and complex on the nose with blackberry, dark chocolate and toasted oak aromas. Full-bodied and very ripe, with loads of fruit and a long, caressing finish. A powerful and rich wine. Builds on the palate. 10/2005

5 hours slow ox. Black and red cherry notes, some plum, black truffles, sweet Oak. Very smooth. Some bricking at edge but beautiful at core. 20 second finish. Not sure it stands out as unique in any particular way, but it is really well made wine with all elements in excellent balance. 9/21/2023
