The 2021 Domaine Laurent & Karen Boussey Volnay 1er Cru "Les Taillepieds" is a highly allocated, small-production hidden gem from one of Volnay’s most revered premier cru vineyards. Sourced from a tiny 0.2-hectare plot of 50- to 75-year-old vines, this wine showcases the classic, chiseled, and crystalline side of the cooler 2021 Burgundy vintage.
The grapes for this Volnay Premier Cru Les Taillepieds are coming from the vineyard located in the middle of the coteau, halfway up the hill, with a very nice South sun exposure, allowing to reach an optimal ripeness every year.
Domaine de Boussey has been bequeathed from father to son for 5 generations. It is located in the heart of the well-known region of Burgundy, in the small village of Monthelie, near Meursault, Pommard and Beaune.
Laurent and Karen Boussey run the family estate today and have been cultivating their own vines since 2003. Laurent, Denis and Claudette's parents retired and Laurent took over the whole estate to perpetuate the family's winegrowing know-how of over 60 years. The vineyard now totals 15 hectares of vines spread over 24 different appellations.
Because the estate underpins its top-tier vineyards with highly competitive pricing compared to massive names like Marquis d'Angerville or de Montille, it is a smart target for Burgundy collectors looking for incredible value.

He noted a refined and pure bouquet of black plums, dark berries, and coffee bean resting on a complex base of dark soil tones, fine oak, and an upper-register smokiness. He described the palate as elegant with a superb core, ripe, suave tannins, and a vibrant, complex finish.
