説明

CUVEE MIGOUA, 1985 Now-2025
Good full, vigorous color. Quite firm on the nose. Fresh. Profound. Medium-full body. Very good acidity. Lovely fruit here. This is & point but splendidly vigorous. Real depth, complexity and harmony. Splendid. Will keep for ages.
Bandol is an old port town on France’s Mediterranean coast, located between Toulon and Marseille, it is one of the oldest wine producing regions in the world. (From 600 BC)
The terraces on the hills behind offer an exceptionally suitable terroir * for the mourvèdre, a difficult to handle grape that rewards care and effort with fascinating wines.
The maritime micro-climate plays an important role here, it prevents excessive drought, while the mistral cools down in this hot climate.
Nowhere else on this blue marble we call Earth does the modest varietal Mourvèdre reach it's lofty pinnacle but at Domaine Tempier, a long champion of Mourvèdre and leading domaine for the Bandol AOC.
I’m trying to confirm, but I’ve not seen any prior vintages of La Migoua in the USA so 1985 is believe to be the first time we see this bottling stateside. The oldest tasting note I’ve found for Migoua is 1981.
La Migoua - 6 ha. on slopes in the commune du Beausset-Vieux, vineyards on slopes at an altitude of 180 to 270 meters, exposition 2/3 right south, 1/6 east, 1/6 west. clay with lime with rock, from the Muschel-Kalk era, 200 million years old, on average 40 year old sticks, 50% mourvèdre, 20% grenache, 26% cinsault, 4% syrah.
Mildew and oidium are not very common in the warm, dry micro-climate and Tempier works organically , no pesticides or herbicides. Even sulfur is hardly used. The mourvèze grape is a great anti-oxidant. Fertilize with compost.
