Wow was just discussing earlier that 2016s have a reputation for being tight but were actually drinking well- this proved my point perfectly. Nose was not as immediate as the Anne Gros alongside with a little barnyard (some didn't like it but I am more tolerant), but the palate was something else. Dark, slightly spiced cherry fruit, superb transparency and silkiness such that I could not take my attention off this wine. I feel her recent vintages have veered towards post-modern a little too much, but this straddled new and old-school perfectly tonight. So complete and textbook Vosne for me. 7/4/2024

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a very elegant bouquet: perfumed red cherry fruit, raspberry and light oyster shell aromas evolving with aeration. Very comely! The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, plenty of vivacious red fruit laced with orange zest/blood orange that segues into a poised and quite persistent finish. An excellent Suchots from a Domaine that deserves a higher profile. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. Vinous, Oct 2019
