Mayacamas, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder, Cabernet Sauvignon 1983 (HS)
Description
removed from Original Carton; High Shoulder or better
92 points John Gilman
. . . . the Mayacamas ’83 is excellent. At age twenty-four the bouquet is quite Pichon Lalande-like, as it offers up notes of sweet cassis, tobacco, coffee, bell pepper, earth and cigar smoke. On the palate the wine is medium-full, poised and complex, with lovely focus and purity and a long, tangy and highly polished finish . . . . it lacks for nothing in its more understated and intensely flavored style. Clearly this approach has yielded one of the most remarkable examples of this . . . cabernet vintage. Most impressive . . . John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2008, Issue #13
