If you don't recognize the Novelty Hill label, it may help to know that the wines are made by Mike Januik, whose eponymous label is one of the best of the Pacific Northwest. For the past six vintages this wine has received 90+ ratings from the Wine Spectator, landing on the magazine's Top 100 list in 2006 and 2003.
The 2008 is generous, with black currant, black cherry and blackberry fruit on the nose and palate, savory herbs and tobacco, plus a rich, but balanced texture.
A stunning value.
