Leaf Day - decanted off a tablespoon of light sediment. Dark cherry with a touch of orange at the core leading out to a thin mahogany edge. Nose is tar, rose petals, ripe plum, Cedar and the tiniest bit of balsamic that really adds complexity. On the palate there’s lovely dried fruit, some cedar, red flowers, leather, and some savour cooking herbs. The finish is long with dried fruit, flowers and herbs - all savoury with a lift of dark fruit holding it together. Beautiful - and worth the wait.
Later - as the wine gets more air and time it’s getting richer and darker with blue and black fruit showing up as well as some dark chocolate and tobacco. Raising my points from 93 to 94. 9/20/2022

Flower Day - decanted off a fair amount of sediment, both hard and light. Opaque garnet in colour out to a browning/mahogany edge. Nose is rich and deep with a bouquet of sandalwood, dried red fruit, damp forest floor, allspice and dried red flowers. It’s an incredibly complex and layered nose. On the palate (still cool from the cellar) there’s a bit of funk, mushroom and spice before the dried red fruit takes over. Medium acidity with fully resolved ripe tannins. The finish is long with the dried fruit, dried flowers and spice continuing. Definitely some VA on the palate and finish but it adds rather than detracts from the whole. Drink now but still able to hold on for another couple of years. Even though there’s no Italian grapes in it, it still shows as Italy. Well done!! 5/5/2022
