It was twinned with a 2010 Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Jean-Paul, Corinne & Loïc Jamet that is exquisite. Black fruit, piped tobacco, smoke, incense and black olives unfold with seemingly each swirl of the glass. Not as powerful as the Chave, yet perhaps even more complex. The palate is intense, beautifully defined and focused, slightly ferrous on the entry. A garrigues-tinged middle with finely chiselled tannins and a voluminous, but detailed finish, this is an awesome Côte-Rôtie. (NM) (9/2022)

Opaque purple. Heady aromas of red and dark berry preserves, potpourri, incense and Asian spices, with a bright mineral accent. Stains the palate with intense black raspberry, blueberry and candied violet flavors and becomes sweeter with air. Rich but lively, with superb finishing clarity, fully integrated tannins and lingering spice and floral notes. This wine's blend of power and finesse is remarkable; it was still in barrel when I tasted it in early November, 2012. (JR) 95+ (3/2013)

Tasted next to 2010 Rostaing Cote Blonde. Expressive nose - dark flowers, pepper, smoke, tar, bacon. On the palate more elegant than the former, very harmonious and balanced, wonderful fruit, minerality, well-integrated acidity with ripe tannins providing structure and grip. Complex and layered with lovely persistence. Excellent. 94-96 3/14/2024
