Description

In Original Wooden Carton; pristine condition

Jean-Marc Pillot typically makes 2 barrels a year of Corton Charlemagne (beautifully situated in the center of the appellation) purchased from his friend Blair Pethel of Domaine Dublere. Blair spent a year working alongside Jean-Marc and has generously allowed him access to a small part of his vineyard. Aromatically complex, honeyed, with wild herbs, mint and chamomile, the Corton Charlemagne is a structured and mineral driven wine that stands out among his other offerings from the hill of Chassagne. 93 points Vinous

Pale yellow. Subtly sexy nose combines ripe stone fruits, menthol, nuts and minerals, plus a hint of pastry. Suave and silky on entry, then broad on the middle palate, with its inviting touch of sweetness nicely buffered by terroir-driven minerality. The wine's strong yellow peach, licorice and pistachio flavors are lifted by notes of lime and stone. This very distinctive, youthfully laid-back wine boasts lovely depth and length as well as a bracing Pernand-side aspect. (ST) (9/2018)

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound

An ultra-fresh nose freely offers up aromas of green apple, white flower and wet stone. There is lovely intensity to the strongly mineral-inflected and muscular big-bodied flavors that display fine delineation and plenty of power on the pure and relatively refined finish that exhibits impressive if not truly outstanding length. This is potentially excellent though it’s likely going to require extended bottle age. (6/2019)
